I decided to copy another Degas drawing today. I find it very instructive but to get more out of it I should spend more time on it. Anyway – we all have those issues! Here’s a copy of a drawing he did of a Monsieur Dantry – can’t remember any of the details about him or it at present and am too lazy to get the book (tiring day…). There are some parts that I like and some that are terrible which you can see for yourself (oh that hand :S ) but at least some of this is down to poor planning and not leaving enough room. One good thing was that I enjoyed using the charcoal with the torchon/tortillon which makes it almost painterly.
