Is this what it’s come to? Drawing on the children’s scribble board? Alas, yes. I did this while the eldest had a music lesson with her Appacha (grandfather) and I was trying to keep the little one happy building with blocks. The figure in the drawing is the aforementioned Appacha wearing his lungi and writing about hemi-demi-semi quavers in a little notebook. That’s the kind of family I married into. It makes for interesting holidays. Last time we went to visit them the eldest came home tootling B A G on the recorder and reciting some of the Greek alphabet and Malayalam phonemes. This year – who knows?
